The Kingsburg to Yarmouth Express

SEPTEMBER 2021
On a sparkling day in September a helicopter landed on the hill in the middle of the Mosher Road loop to transport Merf David (Alison’s Dad, who was visiting) and some family to Wellington County, near Yarmouth for a reunion with friends.

Merf (turning 99) trained in Yarmouth during WWII prior to being deployed to Europe, and almost 80 years later was visiting Gwen Trask, a friend he’d met during his training.

A picnic was enjoyed while the two families reminisced, before the helicopter returned the family to Kingsburg in a memorable flight up along the coast.

The day was made extra special by the enthusiastic send off and return welcome from a coterie of flag-waving Kingsburgers and well-wishers! And Mike and Alex (Alison’s next door neighbours) ran a Welsh flag - in honour of Merf’s heritage - up their flagpole. Quite a day for everyone!
