Stone Wall Diaries
July 23, 2025
I partook in a Dry Stone Canada workshop a few years ago in order to develop my skills in dry stone walling.
It was a very warm two days in which I learned the basics of stone walling, and with about a dozen other students we built a section of wall to delineate one of the boundaries of the old Cherry Hill cemetery. Quick verbal lessons followed by hours of practical application of walling left something tangible at the end of the weekend. The format made this an enjoyable hands-on seminar.
I should note that the "hero shot" photo was taken a number of days later when I had cleaned up and had recovered from the dusty and dirty physical labour involved! — Alexander MacDonald
