Spring in Bayport Means Rhodo’s!
June 08, 2025
A number of KCA members once again attended the tour of Diane Chisholm and Chris Cooper’s lovely property in Bayport, which was once the Bayport Plant Farm
The 40 acre property, a plant nursery specializing in rhododendrons, was established decades ago by Captain Richard Steele. Dick was a premier breeder of rhododendrons and magnolias with a worldwide reputation as a skilled plantsman, propagator as well as founding member of the Atlantic Chapter of the Rhododendron Society of Canada
The weather was lovely and many of the rhododendrons, although not as far along as last year, were at their peak, forming colourful clouds above our heads. A blousy array of azaleas, some late blooming magnolias and a few wisteria were also in bloom. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful property on our doorstep and that the owners were so willing to share it with us.
