Lifesaving 101
JULY 06, 2024
Knowing basic lifesaving techniques can make the difference between a tragedy and a positive outcome in a life-threatening situation. To help enhance the health and safety of our members, their friends and families, and the entire community the KCA offered Lifesaving 101 training by Priority First Aid for the second summer in a row.
Over 40 members have received this training since the AED/defibrillator was installed at the Duckworth Barn last year. Participants learned how to perform CPR and use an AED/defibrillator, provide first aid for a heart attack or stroke, administer emergency aid during an opioid emergency, and use an EPI pen.
One participant who repeated the training this summer shared how they had performed CPR on another tourist during a holiday in Cuba and successfully re-started that person’s heart. The training gave them the knowledge and confidence to respond immediately when they realized the person was unconscious and not breathing.
