Kingsburg in Blossom

JUNE 2021
How gorgeous are Kingsburg’s apple trees in the spring?!!

Apples were first cultivated in Canada by early French settlers with the first planted trees appearing in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley around 1633. In early Kingsburg days, there would likely have been orchards.

Over time, deer would consume apples while browsing and deposit the seeds elsewhere in droppings. This way of dispersing seed is called “endozoochory”. It is possible for 20 to 30 seedlings to germinate from one manure mound! This may explain the many random apple trees that dot the Kingsburg landscape and blossom so beautifully.
