All Hallow’s Eve
OCTOBER 26, 2024
Anyone passing by the Duckworth barn on this particular evening would have been properly alarmed by what had befallen Kingsburg. From the 12.5 foot deadwood skeleton out front, to the collection of ghouls, devils and witches wafting in and out, something truly sinister was afoot.
However, on closer inspection, one would see a perfectly respectable gathering of neighbours and friends, celebrating the ancient Pagan festival of Samhain with delightfully spooky food while listening to a talk of ‘Forerunners’.
Susan Spence and Rod Burgar, who recently bought the church on Kingsburg Road, were appropriately dressed as Vicars and won the prize for best costume. Kim and Robert Meyer brought a ghostly brie that won the prize for scariest food.
The evening was truly a ghastly good time! — Julie Wong
