Baby It’s Cold Outside…

January 01, 2025
But there were still several brave souls who took the Polar Plunge on New Years Day.

The weather was decent with temperatures hovering around 3 degrees and just a slight breeze. But once again, the surf was deemed too rough for a swim so the hardy participants took advantage of the calm, albeit frozen, waters of Hirtles Pond.

After the first eager beavers had broken the ice, everyone plunged in. Amid the cheers, the notes of “Auld Lang Syne” could be heard rising over Kingsburg. A hearty group of 4 managed to stay in for eight minutes!

Afterwards, hot chocolate was served, compliments of our emergency responder, Greg Hebb, standing by with rescue bag in hand.
