Susan Pond’s Daffodils

April 2021
Susan Pond and Tom Jones have the best sign of Spring in Kingsburg. Their swirl of glorious yellow daffodils reminds us all that Spring has sprung.

Susan had an illustrious career at NATO as a senior officer where she was recognized for her professionalism, dedication, and innovative thinking. She was awarded the Meritorious Service Cross for her many years of service.

When Susan was asked what she wanted for a retirement gift she said she would like daffodils for her new garden here in Kingsburg. It was a nod to her many years of living in Belgium and the beautiful daffodils that grow there, as well as to her mother who loved flowers. And what an excellent choice - our deer don’t eat them!

The gift of 400 daffodils is a gift to all of us in Kingsburg. They are certainly a sight to behold when they bloom in April. In Susan’s words, “The daffodils are planted in a curving path. It looks like a daffodil smile.”
