Remembering Dave Murphy

FEBRUARY 24, 2021
We are very sad to share news of the death of Dave Murphy, a Kingsburg resident for over 40 years. Dave was a founding member of the KCA and notable for honouring the history and traditions of the past. He was unique, curious, creative and touched many lives.

As a friend, he was unfailingly loyal and kind. As a musician, he leaves us with recollections of him playing the tin whistle, harmonica and fiddle. He knew all of the words to the country song “I’m My Own Grandpa” - no small feat of memory (just google it and listen to the words). As a farmer, he leaves us with memories of him herding his sheep through the village or working on his tractor, harkening back to the days of historic Kingsburg. As an artist, he leaves a garden of sculptures.

He will be deeply missed. We extend our condolences to Dave’s wife Sonia, their children and extended family.
