How 'bout Them Apples!

In June of 2021 we featured the apple trees that grow and create so much of the atmosphere in Kingsburg.

Turns out other folks are interested in the diversity of the apple in and around Nova Scotia as well. In a recent article in The New York Times they feature the Apple Biodiversity Collection in the Annapolis Valley.

Scientists there are working on understanding the genetics that result in this bonanza of apple diversity, with the ultimate goal of improving the fruit in different ways — tastier, hardier, more disease-resistant and with longer shelf-life in the face of changing climates.
