A Blast from the Past!
JULY 2023
More than twenty years ago the Cookie Corner came into being with Purdy children selling their giant chocolate chip cookies at the bottom of Kingsburg Hill. They baked their cookies on rainy days and sold them on sunny days to delighted beach-goers and Kingsburgers. In the early days they walked to their “place of business” with a loaded wagon. As the summers wore on they were allowed to drive the family Suburban ‘Big White’ - despite not being old enough to drive! They created a sandwich board that they placed at the top of the hill and unbeknownst to their Mom Barb, often careened back down the hill in their wagon! A little cash box that they painted purple and matching shirts filled out their advertising.
The Purdy children, now in their 30’s and scattered around the globe are always dreaming about their next trip ‘home’. In 2021 they sold their business to the Pestl kids for a grand sum of $1.00. The sale included the sandwich board, cashbox, the shirts and most importantly the recipe.
The Pestl kids took the business to a whole new level with gluten free offerings, snazzy bags and unmatched enthusiasm - and of course the famous Cookie Corner cookies. Who will be next to take over the Cookie Corner?!
