Kingsburg Beach Dune Restoration Project

September 29, 2025

“Change is never easy and it often creates discord. But when people come together for the good of humanity and the earth, we can accomplish great things.” David Suzuki

Helping Nature Heal, in conjunction with TransCoastal Adaptations and Green Shores, are working on a three-year pilot project on Kingsburg Beach. The study is multi-disciplinary (engineers, landscape architects, scientists, etc …) and is focused on nature-based strategies to look for a broader and deeper solution to the long-term health of the Kingsburg dunes.

In conversation with Rosmarie Lohnes (Helping Nature Heal) it became clear that some key tenets of the project are to collaborate, educate, communicate and inspire Kingsburg residents and visitors to work towards the prevention of further damage to the dunes and to encourage the rehabilitation of the surrounding area. Rosmarie’s ability to explain the interaction of the roots of the plants in relation to the soil as we move toward a return to a healthier biodiversity was delivered with scientific clarity and the emphasis that through collaborative efforts we can adapt and grow together towards healing.
