Kingsburg celebrated the latest work of local novelist Larry Gaudet. In his seventh book and latest novel, Kingsburg based writer Larry Gaudet explores the remarkable story of Shobac, the internationally recognised masterwork of famed local architect Brian McKay-Lyons.

In partnership with Bryan’s wife Marilyn, the two have brought new life and vitality to the granite ruins of this historic settlement and SkyRoom tells that story. Readers are taken on a spellbindingly circuitous journey where historical fact and fiction intertwine seamlessly; a narrative that includes encounters with Samuel de Champlain, a Mi’kmaq mystic and an Acadian carpenter amongst many. In a departure from orthodoxy, the novel also orchestrates imaginary conversations between Mackay-Lyons and legendary figures in architecture, discussions, which provide a novel perspective on the cultural challenges of building modern, sustainable communities, and homes that contribute to societal wellbeing.
