Diana Makes a Difference

AUGUST 2022
At the beginning of the COVID lockdown in March, Diana Pepall nominated The Examination Unit for an historical plaque to commemorate their work.

Diana has been uncovering the hidden history of The Examination Unit since 2014. The Unit was a civilian code breaking outpost of the UK’s Bletchley Park and operated out of a Victorian mansion located in Ottawa from 1941-1945. Until recently all mention of The Examination Unit was classified and its staff sworn to secrecy. Even their closest family members were not aware of the work they had done during the war.

Diana was in attendance for the unveiling of the plaque which helps to recognise the work of The Examination Unit, many of whom were women.
