Sustainability emphasizes balance between economic, social and environmental goals. It emphasizes the integrated nature of human activities and therefore the need for coordinated planning among different sectors, jurisdictions and groups.

Livability refers to the subset of sustainability impacts that directly affect people in a community, including local economic development, local environmental quality, equity, affordability, public safety and health, and community cohesion (positive interactions among neighbors).

Area beaches and swimming ponds -

Kingsburg is well known for Hirtle's Beach and the back shore ponds which offer warmer waters for swimming.

Kingsburg Beach is also another beach enjoyed by the locals.

Hiking trails

The best trail for a good long hike is along Hirtle Beach going west toward Gaff Point where you can take a 5 km circumnavigation of the Point.  Wear good hiking shoes and bring a picnic.  Just remember to tread lightly as the trail is maintained by volunteers.  All trash must be taken out with you.  There are no bathroom facilities.

a new hiking group has been created for the south shore - have a look at their facebook page:

Biking routes

Bicycle routes are the main roads of the area - be careful as these roads are narrow.  There are trails in the area such as the The Trans Canada Trail which is being promoted since 2016 as The Great Trail.  It claims to be the world's longest network of recreational trails. Construction began in 1992 and the Trail stretches from the Atlantic to the Pacific and the Arctic oceans.  You can join it for hiking or biking  -
